JOB DESCRIPTION: The Shipping/Receiving Warehouse Operator is responsible for shipping and receiving of products manufactured and warehoused in Naugatuck Connecticut. This position will require the candidate to be able to:
Operate forklift
Load and unload trucks, trailers and containers
Lift a minimum of 60 pounds
Shipping Duties:
Warehouse Manager will place all daily shipment papers in shipment folders outside of office.
Warehouse Operator will pick all materials for each shipment. After materials are picked, the Manager will double check to ensure all correct materials are picked. If Manager is on PTO, Quality will be the double check backup.
Warehouse Operator will build the shipment pallets and shrink wrap the pallets.
After the shipment is picked up by the carrier, Operator will finalize the shipment with the scanner.
At the end of each day, Operator will gather all shipment papers, scan to his email and attach the file to a new email and send to all CSRs including Warehouse Manager.
Receiving Duties:
All papers for incoming shipments will be provided by the Warehouse Manager and the Operator will be notified when the material will be delivered.
For any incoming materials shipped by truck, van or container, after the materials are unloaded, the Operator will double check for any damages. If any damage is detected, Operator will notify the Warehouse Manager to go through the proper procedure. If no damage is detected, the Operator will sign the Bill of Lading, the driver will sign the inspection sheet and at this point, driver can leave the warehouse.
The Operator will break down all incoming pallets as needed, add the barcode labels and release stickers to materials and then move the product to designated location in the warehouse.
All samples received by UPS, FedEx or DHL, Operator will bring to front sample room and will notify Quality upon receipt.
Truck Inspections:
- For every incoming and outgoing shipment, perform truck inspections, document observations in logbook. Report unacceptable truck conditions to Warehouse Manager and CSR/Logistics.
Quality Duties:
Returns: Quality department will notify the Shipping & Receiving department of any customer products returns. When return arrives to warehouse, Operator will send an email to the Ingredients team as well as Quality and include the RMA form with the quantity checked, lot number and if any open product was sampled by the customer.
Operator will check IFS daily for any released materials from Finished-QT location. If material is released and Quality added the green release stickers, Operator will move from Finished-QT to either 2,3 or 4 Finished product location in warehouse.
For any damaged materials or materials moved to Hold or Reject location, Operator will work with Quality to move the materials with scanner to the proper location with the proper stickers.
Production Duties:
Quality will provide daily batch records for production and Operator will stage all production materials the day prior. For any quantity discrepancies with materials, Operator will notify the Warehouse Manager immediately to resolve the issue.
At the end of each day, after production is completed, Operator will weigh all remaining materials and compare quantities to IFS and will report any discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.
Warehouse & Dock Duties:
On Wednesdays and Fridays of each week, Operator will empty the garbage bins, sweep warehouse floors, remove the broken pallets & any extra plastic. Operator will place all plastic to the dumpster and Operator will place broken pallets outside stacked neatly next to the Alcohol cage.
Every Friday afternoon, Operator will sign weekly inspection sheet and Warehouse Manager will double check and sign inspection sheet to be returned to Quality Assurance team.
If needed, the Operator will charge forklift batteries during the week only, not during weekends.
Operator will maintain warehouse & dock cleanliness and organization at all times.
The Operator will create a list for Shipping & Receiving supplies needed and will provide list to designated colleague ordering the supplies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Trade Degree (Associate’s degree preferred) and 2+ years of related experience in a manufacturing/ distribution company. The job requires someone with a valid driver’s license and is comfortable operating a forklift. This position requires someone who is highly reliable, punctual, organized, and possesses good written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent organization skills and be capable of handling multiple tasks and prioritizing time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment. They should be able to communicate information in a professional manner and follow up in a clear and timely manner. The candidate should have excellent attention to detail and time management skills. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team. He should have good interpersonal skills and a passion for providing excellent service. The ideal candidate should have a positive, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude, be proactive, responsible, problem/solution-oriented, and flexible to the needs of the business. Strong technology skills (MS Office, Email, UPS / FedEx shipping). Experience in IFS is a plus. This position will be based in our Naugatuck facility and will work closely with the Shelton team.
